Something So Simple
Sunday was Mother's Day. Laurie and I (mostly her idea, but a great one at that) decided to take mom on a rode trip in August to a scrapbooking convention in Tulsa. It was such a simple gift. We didn't have to go through the madness of shopping at the malls for the perfect gift, or wonder what she wanted after her telling us repeatedly (as she always does) that she doesn't want anything at all. Its just a weekend with girls. However, I was so incredibly touched when she opened the magazine and I told her what we were doing, it brought tears to her eyes. It was alot like a child giving a page to a parent that they had colored all themselves. It was so simple, and yet, it was the best gift we could have given her. I guess the lesson I have learned from all of this is that it doesn't matter how much money you spend, sometimes the best gift really is the gift of time and togetherness.

Thanks for sharing this, Sis. Mom's written me 3 emails in the last few days and ALL of them have mentioned her excitement over this gift. :-) I think we did good.
Also, T just emailed and said she watched the finale of the Amazing Race and the couple she wanted to win, won. What's your take?...Discuss.
I HAVE YET TO WATCH THE FINALE OF AR PEOPLE!!!! ARGHHHH. I had meetings all night on tuesday and all of our friends have TIVO, but we should be getting the tape of it tonight. I'll let you know when i watch it. odds are, it will be blog worthy.
